Brooke Shields & Calvins: Naive or Complicit Sexualized Teen

Vogue posted on its YouTube channel "Brooke Shields Tells the Story Behind Her 80's Calvin Klein Jeans Campaign" (Oct 28, 2021). In the video, Shields shared that, unsurprisingly, no extras were allowed on the set and that Richard Avedon, the photographer, was nervous:

"The shoot itself, nobody was allowed on the set [...] I think he [Avedon] was a bit nervous." 

Unbelievably, Shields said that she was naive about the sexual nature of the "Nothing Comes Between Me & My Calvins" video, and she mentioned her body double in Blue Lagoon to justify her naiveté:

"I was naive. I didn't think anything of it. I didn't think it was - [it] had to do with underwear. I didn't think it was sexual in nature [...] I was a kid. And where I was - I was naive. I was a very protected, sequestered kind of young woman [...] in Blue Lagoon I had a body double [for the completely nude scenes]."

Interestingly, Shields thanked Harpers Bazaar for naming her 14-year-old topless Blue Lagoon swimsuit scene iconic. Body double?

And are we to assume that Shields didn't realize that her role as a pre-teen prostitute in Pretty Baby (1978), where her virginity was sold for a whopping $400, was not of a sexual nature. 

Although, Shields claims that she was naive at 15, at 56 she appears to condone the Calvin advertisements by admitting that (teen) sex sells:

Wait, what about Shield's 13-year-old "womanly" bikini pose in Life magazine that was written about in the Vanity Fair piece "The Photo That Changed My Life".

And I won't mention Richard Prince’s Spiritual America exhibit at the Guggenheim where a photograph of a nude 10-year-old Shields was on display. (Interestingly,  Shields' mothers sold the photograph to Playboy Press for a whopping $450.)

Lastly, Shields admitted that, due to the allure appeal of nymphets, her Calvin campaign was "extremely successful", she admitted that Avedon and Klein "knew exactly what they were doing", and she shared that her Calvin campaign was life changing for her and Klein. #rightplacerighttime:

BBC's COPPER: (Pre)Teen Prostitution & Sexual Exploitation in 1860s New York

IMDb didn't share much about the BBC America's Copper (2012) series: "In the 1860s, an Irish-American Civil War veteran joins the New York City police force." 

One can cull a bit more from Copper's Wikipedia page:

The series centers on Kevin "Corky" Corcoran, an Irish immigrant police detective trying to keep the peace in the historical Five Points neighborhood, in 1860s New York City. 

But, IMDb and Wikipedia failed to mention that Copper explores (pre) teen prostitution in 1860s New York City. 

For example, the pilot opened with Detective Kevin Corcoran gifting Annie, a famished pre-teen prostitute, a cold boiled egg. In response, Annie asked the detective, "Would you like me to pleasure?" Able to resist the allure of a nymphet, Detective Corcoran replied, "No. Child. I don't want that."

Subsequently, Kate, Annie's twin sister, was found dead with jasmine combed through her hair and her vigina filled with semen, but Kate was deflowered after she was killed.

With the help of an African American physician, Detective Kevin Corcoran was able to deduce that Winfred Haverford, an aristocrat, killed Kate, but a police cover up prevented Haverford from being charged with a crime. 

Later we learned from Annie that John Reilly wasn't her father, but that he was her husband whom she married when she was 10! 

Annie: "My mom left me and Kate with Mr. Reilly when I was 9. When I turned 10, he married me. Claimed it was the law of the land and I had to."

Detective Kevin Corcoran: "The laws says, a girl can consent to marry a man when she's 10-years-old. The law doesn't force a girl to marry. "

Annie: "That's what Contessa said. She said instead, I could have a warm room in her house with chocolates for doing the same things Mr. Reilly made me do."

And we know from Mary E. Odem's Delinquent Daughters that until 1897 the age of consent in California and in most states was 10.

Ultimately, Detective Corcoran promised to protect Annie, but a prostitute betrayed the detective for $100 and took Annie back to Contessa Pompidou to be prepped for Winfred Haverford.  

Annie may or may not have preferred to be a nymphet prostitute, but we can infer that she did prefer to be an independent slash street teen prostitute over working in the Contessa's brothel - despite the warmth and chocolates.

Mandy MS posted "Why Are Volleyball Shorts so Short and Tight?" (APR 9, 2020) on How They Play. Mandy wrote that, due to the popularity of spandex, volleyball players switched from non-spandex shorts to spandex in the 1970s but not to sexualize nymphet volleyball players:

LAW & ORDER: SVU | A Catholic Church Teen Prostitution Ring

Here's IMDb's summary for Law & Order: SVU "Manhattan Transfer" (s17e17):

While SVU investigates a pair of vice cops found in the middle of an underage prostitution sting involving high-ranking public officials, the team discovers that a priest may be involved in a high school sex trafficking ring.

Near the beginning of the episode, Officer Benson shared with ADA Barba that SVU raided an upscale teen prostitution party:

Officer Benson: "We responded to a tip that underage girls would be at a sex party and in attendance was Bronx ADA Winn, two assemblymen, a retired D.A. investigator, a councilman, and I'm sure that you recognize."

ADA Barba: "Judge Wheeler. Why am I not surprised?"

Nina Kelly, a nun, was at the sex party too. As well as, detectives Russo and Jefferson. Sister Kelly was working undercover to breakup the teen prostitution ring. In what we view as a bit of racism slash classism, BX9, a south Bronx based street gang, were initially suspected of running the teen prostitution ring. 

But we learned in episode 18, "Unholiest Alliance", that the prostitution ring was operated by Bishop Catalano, Monsignor Mulregan and Father Eugene - for over 20 years. 

The "Unholiest Alliance" of the Catholic Church procured and provided teen prostitutes to ADAs, assemblymen, D.A. investigators, councilmen, lawyers and judges - to name a few. 

And the "Unholiest Alliance" couldn't resist the allure of nymphets too. We learned from former nymphets that Bishop Catalano and Monsignor Mulregan made Catholic schoolgirls sit on their laps - in the nude. The schoolgirls were touched in a[n] "[un]G_dly manner". It turns out that Marine Durand's (Kristine Froseth) brother committed suicide (off camera) after their mother caught him and his sister while home on summer holiday (off camera). 

Marine said that she and her brother were "rehearsing", but their mother thought that they were in an passionate incentious embrace. And the mother blamed Marine whom shared with with Kate Sanders (Diana Silvers):
