Big Boobs Jenny and Fun Slut Vanessa | GOSSIP GIRL [Book 2] Recap (Part 2)

Gossip Girl: You Know You Love Me (Book 2): Jenny, Vanessa and Chuck

[The original CW Gossip Girl series was called “Mind-blowingly inappropriate.” by the Parents Television Council, “Very bad for you." by the San Diego Union-Tribune, and “A nasty piece of work.” by the New York Post. However, I would argue that the young adult novel series is inarguably more salacious. I plan to recap books 1-8, 13, and 14, which were written by Cecily von Ziegesar and are based on Ziegesar's experiences at The Nightingale-Bamford School, an Upper East Side all-girls prep school.]

Jenny

As you may recall from book 2 part 1, Jenny is a 14-year-old “lowly ninth-grader” at Constance Billard School for Girls, which is a “small, elite, all-girls school on East Ninety-third Street”, where uniforms are required. And you may recall that Ziegesar wrote that during foreplay with Blair, Nate’s erection “stuck out, tentlike” in his “red-and-white checked boxers”. Interestingly, likewise, Ziegesar wrote that Jenny’s “enormous” “boobs” caused her “pink nightgown” to form a “tentlike triangle”. In terms of Jenny, Ziegesar penned:

She stood in front of the mirror holding her breath and pushing her stomach out as far as it would go. It still didn’t stick out as far as her boobs, which were enormous for a ninth-grader. Her pink nightgown fell in a tentlike triangle from her breasts to her knees [...]

“Freak,” Jenny Humphrey whispered to her reflection.

(Note: Recall that in book 1, Ziegesar referred to Jenny’s “boobs” at least nine times. For instance, in book 1, Ziegesar wrote that Jenny’s “boobs” were: “[...] incredibly huge. At fourteen, she was a 34D.")

Consequently, when Jenny met Nate at “the edge of Sheep Meadow”, Nate, “tanned” with “dark honey-gold” hair, immediately noticed Jenny’s “huge” chest. Ziegesar wrote:

She reached the edge of Sheep Meadow and stepped onto the grass.

Jenny looked up. [Nate] […] the golden boy, standing only thirty feet away, hands on his hips, his green eyes sparkling. His cheeks were flushed pink and his forehead was beaded with sweat. Jenny wanted to taste it.

Nate noticed Jenny’s chest. Man, was it ever huge. He couldn’t let her get away, not without Jeremy and the other guys getting a chance to check her out.

That’s correct. Per Ziegesar, Jenny wanted to taste Nate’s sweat. (LOL) And Nate wanted the other seniors to check out Jenny’s huge chest.

After mingling in Central Park, Nate took Jenny to his bedroom in his Upper East Side (triplex) townhouse, which had red marble floors and famous artists like Renoir, Sargent, and Picasso “on every wall”.

After Nate said, “Let’s go upstairs,” Jenny followed Nate to his bedroom, which had an “antique sleigh bed” and an “ultramodern, ultracool desk with a wafer-thin laptop sitting on it”. Without being asked, Jenny sat “nervously on the edge of the bed”, where she searched Nate’s “emerald green” eyes and shared,  “I’m only fourteen”. What was 17-year-old Nate’s response? Ziegesar wrote:

Nate reached up and touched her curly brown hair, combing it ever so gently with his fingers. Then he put his hand down again. “I know,” he said. “It’s okay.”

Although, Ziegesar left it flirtatiously ambiguous, based on forthcoming chapters, readers can safely infer that Nate did not have sex Jenny the first time she sat on his antique bed.

In the Gossip Girl post “EVERYBODY’S DOING IT”, Gossip Girl was asked about her thoughts on “older boys dating young girls”. Gossip Girl opined that “a college senior dating a high school sophomore” is a bit of a problem, that “a high school senior dating a college freshman” is “okay”, but a 12th grader dating a 9th grader is “pushing it”; however, in what most people, I would imagine, would consider to be a counterintuitive and controversial stance, Gossip Girl opined that age-gap affairs “work better” when the “the girl is the younger one”. Ziegesar wrote:

Dear GG,

What do you think about older boys dating younger girls?

—Sneaky

Dear Sneaky,

It definitely depends on the age difference and the circumstances. For instance, if you were a college senior dating a high school sophomore I would say you had a bit of a Woody Allen-Soon Yi Previn problem. If you were a high school senior dating a college freshman, that would be okay. A high school senior dating a high school freshman is pushing it. It seems to work better when the girl is the younger one, mainly because we mature much faster—in all ways.

—GG

Notes:

  1. Ziegesar’s Woody Allen-Soon Yi Previn reference is about Woody Allen’s affair with Soon Yi Previn, which began when Soon Yi was Woody’s teen stepdaughter. For further information about Woody and Soon Yi’s affair and eventual age-gap marriage, reference the Substack piece “The Same Thing Only Different: Nympholepsy in Woody Allen’s Art and Affairs

  2. In a (somewhat) related note, in the FAMILY MATTERS post, Gossip Girl encouraged what she called “innocent flirting with your stepbrother-to-be”, because it “isn’t sick or illegal”. And she described what some would refer to as incest as “pretty fun and pretty damned convenient”; especially “if you live in the same house!”

Woody Allen and Soon Yi Previn

One reason that readers may infer that Nate and Jenny did not have sex (yet) is that after Jenny met Nate on the steps of The Met, she thought: “Oh my God, [...] He’s about to kiss me.” He didn’t. The arrival of Nate’s friends (temporarily) prevented Jenny from getting what she so desperately desired.

By this point in book 2, readers are up to about ten references to Jenny’s boobs. [I lost count.] Unsurprisingly, the count continues to rise up until the end of book 2. For example, after Jenny joined Nate and his friends on The Great Lawn, her “big boobs’ were spotted by none other than Dan, Jenny’s brother. Of Dan, Ziegesar wrote:

Puffing away, he stared across the grass. A short girl with big boobs and curly brown hair was playing soccer with four boys he recognized only vaguely. It was his sister, Jenny. Since when did she hang out in the park with those boring, preppy, Upper East Side assholes?

Recall from book 1 that Vanessa, another Constance schoolgirl, was in an age-gap relationship with a Brooklyn bartender. Does that make it less surprising that, over hummus and hot chocolate, Vanessa encouragingly referenced Jenny’s “rack”? Ziegesar wrote:

They walked to a café that specialized in Middle Eastern food and ordered hummus and hot chocolate.

“So, Jennifer. With a rack like that, how come you don’t have like, seven boyfriends?” Vanessa said, pointing directly at Jenny’s chest.

Hummus and hot chocolate?! Seven boyfriends?!

Recollect that Dan referenced his sister’s boobs in book 1. For example, Ziegesar wrote in book 1 that even Dan “could not deny” that his sister’s “boobs were really huge.” However, it turns out that Dan referenced his sister’s boobs in book 2 two times! The second time happened at the St. Claire Hotel during Eleanor and Cyrus’ wedding reception, where Ziegesar wrote that Dan recognized his sister’s “enormous cleavage”. Ziegesar wrote:

Dan slipped into a seat at the end of the St. Claire Hotel bar and ordered a double scotch on the rocks. With trembling hands he pulled a Camel out of his coat pocket and lit it.

Dan’s chest convulsed in a sob and he slumped forward, resting his forehead against the edge of his glass. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a familiar shock of curly brown hair, the enormous cleavage, the tiny figure.

His sister.

And next to her, with his hands all over her enormous cleavage and tiny figure was that rich bastard, Nate.

Once again, Ziegesar left it flirtatiously ambiguous about what happened between Jenny and Nate in Nate’s bedroom; however, readers learned later that they did not kiss on that occasion, because Ziegesar wrote that the first time Jenny and Nate kissed was while they: “were sitting beside the boat pond in Central Park,” where “Nate pulled her toward him. They both kept their eyes open, smiling as they kissed.” (Note: “Jenny had [previously only] kissed two boys during a kissing game at a party once [...]”)

However, later in book 2, Gossip Girl gossiped on the NOBODY DOES IT BETTER post that: “Word has it N and J have been hooking up after school every day. Poor B[lair].” Interestingly, in book 1, Ziegesar wrote that Blair and Nate “had done everything but” have actual sex. Is that what Ziegesar is implying Nate and Jenny did every day after school?

Vanessa

In book 2, readers learned more about Clark, Vanessa’s 22-year-old boyfriend. (Recall that Gossip Girl posted that “a high school senior dating a college freshman” is “okay”. But at 22, Clark would be more like a college senior.) Ziegesar penned that Clark, a bartender at The Five and Dime, a “dimly lit” bar in Williamsburg, had “red sideburns and beautiful gray eyes”. (Note: Per Google, someone with red hair and grey eyes is extremely rare and appears in less than 1% of the entire human population.)

Despite the fact that Vanessa, who dreamed of being a film major at  NYU, was still a (prep) schoolgirl who was sitting in a bar, Clark wasn’t shy about openly expressing his age-gap desires. For example, Clark “ran his fingers through Vanessa’s short-cropped black hair” and “blew her a kiss”. Likewise, Vanessa wasn’t shy about openly expressing her desire for an older boyfriend. Ziegesar wrote:

Clark came over and ran his fingers through Vanessa’s short-cropped black hair.

Clark was the bartender at The Five and Dime [...] Clark was twenty-two. He had red sideburns and beautiful gray eyes

[Vanessa] watched Clark’s butt as he bent over to stock the bar fridge with more bottled beer.

“Hey boyfriend,” she yelled at him. “I’m lonely.”

Clark looked over his shoulder and blew her a kiss.

Thank God for Clark, Vanessa thought.

However, because it was “kind of fun to be such a slut”, Vanessa’s age-gap affair with Clark didn’t stop her from flirting with Dan. For example, during the wedding reception at the St. Claire Hotel bar, Vanessa kissed Dan on his “quivering lips”. Ziegesar wrote:

Vanessa picked a ball of lint off her fishnets and flicked it onto the bar floor. She couldn’t believe she was actually flirting with Dan. She hadn’t even broken up with Clark yet! But it was kind of fun to be such a slut.

She leaned forward and kissed Dan on his quivering lips. “Right,” she said, her mouth still full of nuts.

Gossip Girl

Interestingly, in the Vanity Fair piece “‘Gossip Girl Was Me’: Cecily von Ziegesar Talks Manhattan vs. Cobble Hill” (2020), Ziegesar related that she was, in fact, Gossip Girl. Ziegesar said, “Gossip Girl wasn’t Dan in the books. She was the omniscient narrator. Gossip Girl was me,” which (some) feminists [parents] may find interesting when one considers that Ziegesar slash Gossip Girl encouraged schoolgirls to “break out those credit cards and hit Bendel’s and Barneys for some [...] sexy fishnet tights, [and] little wool skirts”. Not only did Ziegesar write that bulimic Blair vomited her quenelle, but Gossip Girl encouraged: “The way to any girl’s heart is to tell her she looks tiny. Girls kill to be tiny.” And what was Ziegesar slash Gossip Girl’s advice on how to handle “senior stress management”? Materialism, alcoholism, and (teen) sex. Ziegesar/Gossip Girl posted:

It’s time to break out those credit cards and hit Bendel’s and Barneys for some cool new boots, sexy fishnet tights, little wool skirts [...]

Here’s my recipe for senior stress management: Mix one gorgeous boy with a nice new pair of leather boots, a new cashmere sweater, a long night out, and several drinks. Stir in a very late morning and hot chocolate in bed.

Chuck Bass

Lastly, recall that in book 1, Ziegesar wrote that, due to her alluring looks, Serena was “a full-on groper magnet”; thus, after Cyrus kissed Serena on both cheeks, hugged her a little too tightly, and patted Serena on the hip, Ziegesar penned that Serena didn’t flinch, because she was used to “horny European gropers”. And you may recall from book 1 that after Chuck asked Jenny to introduce him to her breasts, he gyrated his crotch against her ass on the dance floor at The Met, and then Chuck took 14-year-old Jenny into the ladies' room, where he “pulled her dress down so he could get at those massive jugs”. Well, Chuck isn’t mentioned much in book 2, but, unsurprisingly, YA readers learned that he’s up to his old ways. For example, on the dance floor at the wedding reception at the St. Clairel, Chuck promptly groped two Constance schoolgirls: Kati Farkas and Isabel Coates. Ziegesar wrote:

Chuck grabbed both Kati and Isabel’s hands and twirled them away, his hands sliding down their backs to their butts within seconds.

Famous Age-Gap Relationships: Brad Pitt (24) and Shalane McCall (15) | Pitt (26) and Juliette Lewis (16)

Here's IMDb's plot summary for Once Upon a Time ... in Hollywood (2019):

A faded television actor [Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio)] and his stunt double [Cliff Booth] strive to achieve fame and success in the film industry during the final years of Hollywood's Golden Age in 1969 Los Angeles.

In the film, the infamous Manson Family played a bloody role. In one scene, Cliff, who was played by 56-year-old Brad Pitt, gave Pussycat (Margaret Qualley), an underage teen member of the Manson Family, a ride to the Spahn Ranch, which was where the Manson Family resided.

During the ride, possibly as a means of paying her fare, Pussycat asked Cliff , “Want me to suck your cock while driving?” However, Cliff refused Pussycat’s offer, because he didn’t believe that she was, at least, 18. Thereby, Cliff implied that if Pussycat were, at least, 18, he would have allowed her to perform oral while he drove. Interestingly, Pussycat implied that, in general, men didn’t bother to inquire about her age. Here's the dialogue:

Pussycat, “Want me to suck your cock while driving?”

Cliff Booth, “How old are you?”

Pussycat, “What?”

Cliff Booth, “How old are you?”

Pussycat, “Wow, man. First time anybody asked that in a long time.”

Cliff Booth, “What's the answer?”

Pussycat, “Okay, we gonna play kiddie games? Eighteen. Feel better?”

Cliff Booth, “You got some I.D., you know, like, a driver's license or something?”

Pussycat, “Are you joking?”

Cliff Booth, “No, I'm not. I need to see something official that verifies that you're eighteen, which you don't have because you're not.”

Subsequently, in response to having her oral offered refused, Pussycat stated that she was not “too young to fuck” Cliff but that Cliff was “too old to fuck” her.

Pussycat, “Obviously. I’m not too young to fuck you. But you’re too old to fuck me.”

Shalane McCall and Brad Pitt

In a double bit of art imitating life, back in 1987, 24-year-old Brad Pitt played Randy and 15-year-old Shalane McCall played Charlotte on the prime time soap opera Dallas, where Randy and Charlotte had an age-gap relationship in which they shared an age-gap kiss and love scene.

In terms of the kiss, Charlotte had Randy over to her house while her parents were away, but to Charlotte’s dismay, her mother and Ray, her step-father, returned home a day early and, consequently, witnessed Charlotte and Randy kissing passionately.

Later, a furious Ray caught Charlotte and Randy making out on the floor of the barn, but Charlotte didn’t understand why Ray was furious, because, as she opined, they were just “fooling around”.

Reportedly, McCall shared with People magazine (1988) that filming romantic scenes with Pitt (i.e., a much older man) wasn’t awkward. McCall reportedly shared:

“I met him an hour before shooting. But it wasn't awkward. We were laughing and kidding around.”

However, Cherie Holton, McCall’s mother, reportedly related to People that her daughter felt some “anxiety” about kissing Pitt, because McCall was inexperienced. Cherie Holton shared:

“I can tell you there was anxiety on Chellain's part. It's not cool at her age to admit how inexperienced you are. She's only kissed about three boys in her life.”

In the W Magazine piece “Brad Pitt Tries to Find the Music in Each Day” (Jan. 9, 2023), Pitt reminisced over his age-gap love scene with McCall, which he referred to as “frolicking” “in the hay in a barn”.

W Magazine: What was your first love scene?

Pitt: It would have been in the show Dallas. I had to roll around in the hay in a barn. I don’t think I had a line. I was just rolling and frolicking.

Juliette Lewis and Brad Pitt

Brad Pitt and Shalane McCall had an age-gap affair off-screen as well. They openly dated for about a year until, at the age of 17, McCall married the musician Trent Valladares. And in 1989, 26-year-old Pitt started dating 16-year-old Juliette Lewis.

Amanda (Juliette Lewis) "Too Young to Die?"

Pitt and Lewis met on the set of Too Young to Die?. In the film, Lewis played Amanda, a 15-year-old sex worker, who had an age-gap relationship with her pimp Billy (Pitt) and with Mike (≈ 34-year-old Michael O'Keefe).

Rain (Juliette Lewis) "Husbands and Wives"

Interestingly, a year before Lewis and Pitt ended their age-gap affair, Lewis played Rain in Woody Allen's Husbands and Wives (1992). In the film, Rain had an age-gap affair with Gabe Roth (Woody Allen), her Columbia College literature professor. And she had age-gap affairs with her friend’s father, her father's business partner, and with her analyst.

Claudia (Kirsten Dunst) and Louis (Pitt) "Interview with the Vampire"

Lastly, a year after Pitt and Lewis broke up, Pitt played Louis in Interview with the Vampire (1994) In the film, Louis and Lestat (Tom Cruise) conspired to turn Claudia (Kirsten Dunst) into a vampire. While Lestat and Claudia’s relationship was platonic, Louis and Claudia's relationship was physical. So much so that in a scene, which is controversial to this day, Claudia (i.e., 11-year-old Dunst) passionately kissed Louis (i.e., ≈ 30-year-old Pitt).

Famous Age-Gap Couple: Michael Wolff & Victoria Floethe

Micheal Wolff's Petronella Wyatt

I've read a number of Michael Wolff's page turners - including Too Famous, which is peppered with nympholepsy. For example, Wolff wrote that, in terms of his affair with his step-daughter, Woody Allen said, "the heart wants what it wants". Wolff related that Petronella Wyatt, a friend of Rupert Murdoch's daughter, said that, [among a number of other famous elderly men], Murdoch ogled her when she was a nymphet. And per Wolff, Jeffrey Epstein told Steve Bannon that one of Epstein's masseuses, a 14-year-old whom said she was 18, told the police that she lied about her age: "[...] because she was afraid she would never be allowed into the house and never be invited back."

Victoria Floethe and Michael Woflff

In addition to Wolff's books, I've been (curiously) impressed by Wolff's impeccable since of style, which caused me to be doubly astonished when I read Richard Johnson's Page Six headline: "Michael Wolff expecting a baby with girlfriend 30 years his junior" (February 6, 2015)

Johnson wrote that 61-year-old (married) Wolff starting dating having an affair with 34-year-old Victoria Floethe in 2009 (i.e., Wolff was 55 and Floethe was 28).

Consequently, per Gawker, in 2014: "Wolff filed a matrimonial action against his wife in the Supreme Court of New York"; however, Wolff did not inform his wife whom found out via Gawker

Who is Victoria Floethe? Per WagCenterFloethe is a model (L’Oreal SoColor), an actress (Broken Windows [theater]), a host (LookTV's SEXY. NOT SEXY), a writer (Slate), and she interned at Vanity Fair where she reportedly began her age-gap affair with Wolff.

And unsurprisingly, per GawkerFloethe is an (open) teleiophile. Owen Thomas wrote in his Gawker piece, "Victoria Floethe, the New Media IngĂ©nue" (02/26/09), that prior to Wolff, Floethe dated Melik Kayla and Lawrence Osborne - both older (travel) writers.

The "travel writer" boyfriend whom she never names in the Slate piece is Melik Kaylan, a widely published journalist much older than her. At the time Floethe and he were going out, Kaylan was married. He helped introduce her to Wolff, who got her an internship at Vanity Fair. According to our tipster, to Kaylan's dismay, Floethe switched her affections from Kaylan to Wolff.

She's also dated Lawrence Osborne, the travel writer ex of founding Gawker editor Elizabeth Spiers. And at an Interview party, she was photographed clinging to the side of English writer Adrian Dannatt.

Lastly, per the New York Times, Wolff's divorce was finally finalized, and he and Floethe are currently married.

DONNY'S BAR MITZVAH (2021): "A Rude and Raunchy Coming-of-Age" with Teen Handjob Hannah

Kristen Yoonsoo Kim's New York Times review called Donny’s Bar Mitzvah "A Rude and Raunchy Coming-of-Age". Kim's first paragraph will serve as a plot:

The year is 1998. Donny Drucker (Steele Stebbins) is 13 years old and his family has thrown him a glitzy, red-carpet-worthy bar mitzvah, inviting classmates and relatives to toast his newfound adulthood. Shot entirely like camcorder footage from the point of view of a hired videographer, Jonathan Kaufman’s debut film, which he wrote and directed, has all the potential to be endearing and nostalgic, even if it’s slim on plot. Instead, “Donny’s Bar Mitzvah” — which is littered with chaotic party scenes of horny, dysfunctional attendees — oscillates between offensive and offensively unamusing.

For the purposes of this blog, we'll focus on the "raunchy coming-of-age" parts of the movie.

Approximately, three minutes into the film, we're given in the impression that Donny loves DP.

In addition, we learned a lot about Hannah, aka Handjob Hannah, Donny's middle-school classmate. We learned that she got "finger blasted" in class while watching Bill Nye" and apparently Hannah doesn't restrict her sexual services to handjobs. Here's the dialogue that took place between the middle-schoolers at the bar mitzvah:

"Handjob Hannah?"
"You know she got finger blasted last week in class while watching Bill Nye The Science Guy?"
"Yes, I know that."

"Dude. Hannah is a whore. Kiss her? Yo man. You're gonna get a blow job tonight!"
"I mean. He's right. You are gonna get your dick sucked bro."

Lastly, we learned from Hannah that her dad called her "sugar tits", and she was part of the team of nymphets demanding that another young guest, "Show us your dick!"

But Hannah was not involved in the middle-school lipstick lesbian kissing scene.

But Hannah did remind me Amy who was Gatsby's (TimothĂ©e Chalamet) gorgeous and sexually advanced Jewish high school sweetheart in Woody Allen's A Rainy Day in New York (2019)

Gatsby shared, "Amy was gorgeous and so sexually advanced. Word on Amy was she performed oral sex at a Bar Mitzvah. I think they should make that a part of every Jewish holiday [...] And what a great Hanukkah gift."

Kim's New York Times review wasn't favorable, but Donny’s Bar Mitzvah got a whopping 83% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes and 7.3 out of 10 stars on IMDb.

Kepnes' YOU LOVE ME: Budussy & Teen Age-Gap Love Triangle

Here is Penguin Random House's plot summary for Caroline Kepnes' You Love Me:
Joe Goldberg is done with the cities. He’s done with the muck and the posers, done with Love. Now he’s saying hello to nature, to simple pleasures on a cozy island in the Pacific Northwest. For the first time in a long time, he can just breathe.
He gets a job at the local library—he does know a thing or two about books—and that’s where he meets her: Mary Kay DiMarco. Librarian. Joe won’t meddle, he will not obsess. He’ll win her the old-fashioned way . . . by providing a shoulder to cry on, a helping hand. Over time, they’ll both heal their wounds and begin their happily ever after in this sleepy town.

The trouble is . . . Mary Kay already has a life. She’s a mother. She’s a friend. She’s . . . busy.

True love can only triumph if both people are willing to make room for the real thing. Joe cleared his decks. He’s ready. And hopefully, with his encouragement and undying support, Mary Kay will do the right thing and make room for him.

As you can see, there doesn't appear to be any nympholepsyany in the novel. Or so I thought, until I read the last 25 pages of the 385 page turner. Interestingly, the two previous novels in the series, You and Hidden Bodies, didn't contain any nypholepsy. However, season two of the Netflix adaptation did take advantage of the allure of nymphets.

You S02E03

For example, in episode 3 of season 2 of You, Joe confronts Ellie Alves, his 15-year-old neighbor, about "chasing an internship" with Henderson, a famous much older comedian. Joe advised Ellie, because Delila, Ellie's older sister, informed Joe that when she was 17, she was drugged with GHB, raped and photographed in Henderson's sex dungeon.

Ellie didn't take Joe's advice well, she assumed that he wanted her to call him Daddy, and she asked him if he wanted to "fuck" her, because, "Everybody wants to fuck the 15-year-old!"

In You Love Me, like Penguin Random House shared, Joe met Mary Kay, but the publisher didn't relate Nomi, Mary Kat's teen daughter, who had an extended age-gap relationship with Seamus, a short CrossFit enthusiast with "piercing blue eyes and a strong jaw", who went to high school with Nomi's mom, where they had sex when Mary Kay was 17. Seamus inherited Cooley Hardware, the local hardware store, where Nomi worked, "But just for a few months."

There were clues about Seamus' nympholepsy. For example, at the gym:
"[...] Seamus is working out two feet away, singing along to Kid Fucking Rock, who waxes nostalgic-pervert about his whisky-soaked glory days mounting an underage girl by a lake."
And Seamus scolded Joe, but Joe and I assumed that Seamu was referring to Mary Kay:
"Whole shit ton of girls out there, Joe, and you just had to fix your eyes on mine."
"The worst part about all this, oh man, she tells me she wants you and she says that me and her can be friends."
"One week ago, one fucking week ago she was in my cabin with me and you come back outta nowhere and boom. Finito. She'd be here right now if it wasn't for you, you bookworm piece of shit."
Photo: The Bibliofile

But during Joe and Marky Kay's wedding, Nomi:
"She wants to dance and this is wrong - eighteen is too close to seventeen - but she leaves me no choice. I rest my hands on her hips and I hit bare skin, but if my hands go any lower, they're on her ass, if they go higher, they're on her chest. She looks up at me and there is moonlight - Are people looking at us? - and she smiles [at Joe]. "I owe you."
"[...] and she runs the tips of those fingers through my hair."

Subsequently, Nomi filled Joe in on her age-gap relationship with "Uncle Seamus":

"He told me he was gonna 'teach you a lesson' for trying to steal me away, like it's not my choice. Such a jerk."

Apparently, Nomi and Seamus' age-gap affair took place throughout Nomi's high school career:

"He could be sweet, though, like driving to Seattle to pick me up from Peggy and Don's to take me to his cabin. I don't think I would have gotten through high school without those weekends."

Nomi even shared how her age-gap relationship started:

"But kids here...they're like kids everywhere. They suck. Seamus was just, I mean one day I was bored hanging out by the creek near my old middle school and...there he was."

Joe attempted to convince Nomi that she was a victim:

Joe: "He's a rapist."
Nomi: Now she sits up. "You stop it. Nobody raped me, Joe."
Joe: "It's call statutory rape. And it's wong."
Nomi: "Oh really, Mr. Morals? Mr. Hiding in the woods watching me...."

And of course, Joe incorrectly diagnosed Seamus as a pedophile.

Very interestingly, Kepnes made Joe a Woody Allen fan: "[...] say what you will about him...his movies have a lot of great female leads." And Joe even suggested Woody to Nomi:
Nomi: "Now you're gonna tell me that you didn't push me to watch your favorite movie..."
Joe: I hate that this is true-I did that, I pushed a teenage girl on Woody Fucking Allen [...]

Although Joe denied it, Nomi was under impression the Joe was suppressing his nympholepsy:

"One word," she says. "Budussy."*

"That that whole time you helped me at the library you were making eyes at me all nervous about getting caught and you keep looking to see if my mom noticed. You were so cut, Joe, So cute."

*Per Lena Dunham, budussy is: "[...] butt, dick, and pussy,[...] I mean, it’s a useful word.”

Nomi's an avid reader. But did she read The Red Queen, because she knows that most men are nympholepts\ephobophiles. And she shared that she's an (open) teleiophile:
Joe: "I'm horrified by what Seamus did to you but I am not like that."
Nomi: "He didn't do anything to me. I like older guys. You and Seamus like younger girls. Almost all guys like younger girls. There's nothing wrong with that [...]"

To avoid any more spoilers, I'll abruptly stop here, but I'm certain that you see Kepnes' use of the allure of nymphets.

Lastly, of You Love Me, Stephen King opined: "Hypnotic and scary...totally original.
