BETCHES 'Let Me Finish': Schoolgirl Role Play Fantasy or Fetish?

On the "Is Role Play His Fantasy Or A Fetish?" episode of the Betches Let Me Finish podcast, Taylor read the last listener email of 2020, which was from a listener who had sex, repeatedly, with "this guy" whom had a schoolgirl role play fantasy or schoolgirl fetish:

Taylor: “Hey sluts: Love the show. I need help. I’m seeing this guy, and he’s really into role play. The first few times we hooked up, he kept asking me if I’d been a bad girl. And I played along. I could tell he was working up the courage to take it a step further; so, the next time we were hooking up and he asked me if I’d been bad, I was like, ‘Yeah, I’ve been a bad girl. Do you wanna punish me?’ And he’s like, ‘Well, what did you do wrong? Were you caught skipping class?'"

Abby (co-host): “Oh, he wants to do, like, principal?”

Interestingly, the guy's fantasy or fetish is that he's a private school headmaster like Headmaster Steve Muller in Cruel Intentions 2 - not a public school principal. Consequently, his fantasy or fetish includes private schoolgirl uniforms:

Taylor: “It’s at this point that I realize that he’s doing a whole role playing thing. And he wants me to pretend to be a naughty schoolgirl. I’ve never done this before; so, I was a little caught off guard. Long story short, he told me how he was the headmaster and he wanted to spank me for being so bad. Not gonna lie. It was pretty hot. My ass was so red. Fast forward to today and let’s just say this has turned into a whole thing. It’s like, everytime we have sex, it gets freakier and freakier. For the holidays he’s talked about getting me a Catholic schoolgirl uniform, and I feel like there’s no turning back.” 

Abby: “Wow.”

However, the emailer wanted some advice, because, although she liked, "[...] the role play [...] it's starting to feel a little repetitive." 

Before giving the emailer some advice, Abby was non-judgmental, “I mean, if this is what turns him on - that’s what turns him on [...] And she said it was hot.” And Sean, the Senior Director of Podcasts, and Abby opined that the guy's schoolgirl fantasy slash fetish was hot.

Sean: “I mean, I get it. It’s kinda hot.”

Abby: “Yeah, it’s hot. It’s hot.”

After giving some alternative role playing suggestions (e.g., Taskrabbit vs. Tasker), Taylor encouraged the emailer to "just lean into the role", Abby suggested the emailer "get creative girl", and Abby, Taylor and Sean suggested some headmaster\schoolgirl scenarios. 

Abby: “[...] your homework is always wrong. You always cheated. You are an F student.”

Taylor: “Honestly, just lean into the role. We can have character development here.”

Abby: “Honestly, like, get creative girl. We can create a backstory.”

Taylor: “What did you do this time?”

Abby: “What if you’re her [i.e., the schoolgirl] all the time now. He’s like, ‘Hey, wanna go to the movies?’ And you're like, ‘Oh, because I’ve been a good student?’”

Sean: “Hey, I’m gonna go to the grocery store. Do you need anything? Like, ‘I need you to get me a ruler ‘cause I lost mine, and I want you to spank me with it.’”

I have to say, despite the plethora of examples of the allure of schoolgirls in pop culture (e.g., Joshua Gaylor's Hummingbirds [novel], Rachel Weiner's Horse Girls [play], Netflix's Baby  (2019) [series], Stacey Dooley's Young Sex for Sale in Japan (2017) [documentary]), I have to say that I was surprised that Abby and Sean (openly) shared that the schoolgirl fantasy slash fetish was hot.

From the NY TIMES to Netflix: Schoolgirl Sleepover Sex Stories (Part 1): Becca Moore, Miley Cyrus, Jessica Simpson and Julia Fox

In the New York Times THE ETHICIST piece “My Daughter Is Having Sex with Her Best Friend. Must I Tell Her Mom?” (March 22, 2022), a mother needed advice, because her mid-teen daughter was having girl-on-girl sex during sleepovers with her best friend. 

Here's part of the question submitted to THE ETHICIST:

My daughter is in a newly romantic relationship with her best friend, who is also female. Both are in their midteens. My daughter recently confided in me that they have had sex. She insists, however, that I am not allowed to tell the friend’s mother, because the mother wouldn’t let them have sleepovers or hang out as much. My ex-husband is the one who hosts the sleepovers, and he looks the other way when they are in the bedroom, reasoning that (or so my daughter tells me), “It’s OK because there are no penises involved.” [...] Are my ex-husband’s actions egregious? Name Withheld

The mother’s question reminded me of Ariel Levy’s Female Chauvinist Pigs: Women and the Rise of Raunch Culture (Free Press\Simon & Schuster, 2005). Levy related in the book that on the thirtieth anniversary of Nancy Friday’s “international bestselling collection” My Secret Garden: Women’s Sexual Fantasies (Trident Press, 1973), a panel discussion titled “Sex and What Women Want Now” was held at the 92nd Street YMHA in Manhattan. The panel discussion, which included Candace Bushnell - the author of Sex and the City, was moderated by Norman Pearlstein, Friday’s husband and the editor-in-chief of Time Inc. Levy related that during the panel, Friday opined that as long as a [young] woman reaches orgasm, it doesn’t matter whom she thinks about while masturbating or during sex. Friday asked the panel discussion attendees,

“Doesn’t everyone here agree that it doesn’t really matter? If it takes you where you want to go, if it helps you reach orgasm, does it matter who you’re thinking about?” 

In My Secret Garden, a variety of fantasies were shared, which began when most of the fantasizers were between the ages of 7 and 11. For example, Alexandra fantasized about having an affair with her high school teacher. She stated emphatically: "[...] I'm sure it would not be a fantasy if I gave him a little encouragement." And Stephanie fantasized about very young girls being raped "by a mad professor". In Stephanie’s fantasy, the professor decided whom he was going to rape by examining "their sexual apparatus". However, in addition to their fantasies, some women shared what they brought to life during schoolgirl sleepovers. 

Clarissa recalled that she and her friend were caught masturbating with candles - when they were 12. Marina shared that she began to be aware of men at the age of 9 or 10 and thought about them while she masturbated; however, Marina only had "a vague idea of what lovemaking was" until she met her friend, a 10-year-old Mediterranean girl. Marina and the Mediterranean used to sit at opposite ends of the bathtub and pour warm water from a Russian silver teapot over their clitorises while caressing their bodies "with infallible, instinctive verve." Celia confessed that when she was about 8, she used to bully her: "[...] friend into playing games where we had to pretend to take off our clothes and the 'wicked man' would make us walk in the street [...]" In addition, Celia said that when she was 10, she wanted to be a stripper and that she had "intimate contact" with her girlfriend. And when Alison was 14, she had an "[...] unusual relationship with a close girlfriend". In the unusual relationship, Alison's girlfriend would dress Alison in a sexy bikini made of chiffon scarves. Then Alison's girlfriend pretended that she was a "rowdy seaman" before she “raped” Allison.

Since reading that THE ETHICIST piece and My Secret Garden, while doing research for a second edition and a new book, I’ve come across a number of actresses, singers, and influencers, whom, just like the women in  My Secret Garden, have shared their schoolgirl sleepover sexual exploits via Youtube podcasts, memoirs, (non-fiction) books, and even via a Netflix comedy special. 

Becca Moore

Becca Moore is a podcaster and influencer with over one million followers on TikTok. On the “My First Time (with a woman)” episode of her Becca Moore podcast (YouTube, August 27, 2024), Becca shared that during middle school sleepovers, she and her friends would “sit in a circle and all make out with each other.” Becca,

“Like, honestly, in middle school we used to, like, sit in a circle and all make out with each other. And no boys would be around. I don't really know why we were doing that, but I did love those sleepovers. That was fun.”

By high school, Becca was still making out with girls during sleepovers, but schoolboys attended the sleepovers too. Becca, 

“And then when I got to high school, we would have sleepovers and make out, like, play spin the bottle, but boys would be there. And it was kind of, like, a little bit, I will say, the high school one, was a little bit performative.”

“I think that we were not really, like, turned on. We were only doing it because boys were watching, and I think we thought that it was hot for them to watch - at least from my perspective. I think, I was more so thinking about the boys than the girls.”

Thus, at least for Becca, making out with other high school girls during sleepovers wasn’t (only) for pleasure, it was additionally done to provide entertainment for the schoolboys. 

Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus, the Grammy award-winning singer and actress, shared with Alex Cooper on the Call Her Daddy podcast “Miley Cyrus-Call Her Daddy Interview” (YouTube, August 13, 2020) that when she was a pre-teen, she had a girl-on-girl orgy, which Cooper referred to as “amazing”.

Miley, "Yeah, when I was like 11 or 12 [...] I got most of my girlfriends to hook up with me."

Alex, "That is such an amazing [thing]. That's amazing!"

Miley, "The first time I ever hooked up with anyone was with a girl. Two of them."

Alex, "And did you go past first base?"

Miley, "Yeah! Oh yeah!"

Alex, "Miley's like, 'Of course. Oh my God. Absolutely.'"

Since Miley admitted that she went “past first base” during sleepovers, we can confidently infer that Miley’s hookups were more involved than Becca’s ( i.e., Miley and her girlfriends did more than kiss during sleepovers).

Jessica Simpson

Jessica Simpson, the singer, actress, and fashion designer, wrote in her memoir, Open Book (Dey Street Books\ HarperCollins, 2020), that when she was between the ages of 6 and 12, she and a family friend would have girl-on-girl sex during sleepovers. Jessica wrote that, like Miley Cyrus, her family friend would initiate sex. For example, during the night, foreplay consisted of tickling Jessica’s back. Eventually, they started having sex during the daytime while using a closet for privacy. Jessica’s friend would even watch Jessica shower. Jessica wrote:

It would start with tickling my back [...] Eventually, it wasn't just at nighttime. She would get me to go into a closet with her, or just find a way to linger until we were alone. It got to the point that she would sneak into the bathroom to watch me shower.

In an interview with People “Jessica Simpson on Confronting Her Abuser: 'It Was Extremely Painful and Still Is'” (January 29, 2020), Jessica clarified that even though her family friend initiated the sex, Jessica admitted that she “allowed it to happen”; thus, Jessica felt “very shameful”, because she was complicit. Jessica confessed to People, 

“I allowed it to happen, so I felt that I was as much of the abuser as the abused. So I was very shameful during that time, from 6 to 12 years old.”

Curiously, Jessca is the only celebrity slash influencer who expressed shame about her girl-on-girl sleepover activities and considered it to be sexual abuse. But just as curiously, out of all the words in her 416-page memoir, Jessca used the schoolgirl sleepover sex imagery to promote the book. 

Julia Fox

Julia Fox, the actress (Uncut Gems, 2019 [A24]) and model, related in her memoir, Down the Drain (Simon & Schuster, 2023), that in 2001, when she was an 11-year-old 6th grader at East Side Middle School in Manhattan, she and Ella, whom Julia described as a straight A student with “beautiful thick auburn hair and big green eyes”, would “roll joints with a filter, ‘like the French’” and they would kiss “like the French too.” As an excuse to kiss, Julia and Ella played spin the bottle and seven minutes in heaven. Julia wrote: 

We play[ed] games like spin the bottle and seven minutes in heaven [i.e., in the closet kissing], and then we pretend[ed] like it didn’t happen.

Unlike Jessica Simpson, Julia and Ella didn’t appear to be ashamed of their pre-teen sexual exploits; however, Julia wrote that Ella insisted that their girl-on-girl kissing was “practice for the real deal”. In other words, Ella assured Julia that they were not middle school lesbians or bisexual. Consequently, Julia wrote that she sensed that Ella simply enjoyed kissing girls. 

Eventually, Julia befriended Rose - a rich classmate. “Penthouse on Fifth Avenue rich.” Julia loved sneaking into Rose’s penthouse after hours, where the schoolgirls would: “[...] sit cross-legged, facing each other on her floor, and pass each other love poems.” Sometimes Julia and Rose would: “[...] massage each other with oils”, “dribble hot wax over each other’s bodies’ or, like Marina and the Mediterranean girl in My Secret Garden, Julia and Rose would take “baths together”. While the schoolgirls bathed, Julia wrote that she couldn't stop staring at Rose's “enormous double-D breasts, covered in thick purple stretch marks.” 

When Rose was grounded, Julian befriended Alice, whom “lost a bunch of weight using diet pills [...] [and] started tanning and wearing makeup.” Julia and Alice had a crush on Tommy, whom invited them to his house for a sleepover via AIM: “My mom is out of town, you guys should come over!” After a “few beers”, Tommy handed Julia and Alice a pair of boxers, and they squeezed into Tommy’s “tiny twin bed”, where, after Julia put Tommy’s penis into her mouth, he immediately ejaculated all over her hair. Consequently, Julia was “half thrilled, [and] half horrified.” Julia:

I quietly slide under the blanket until I’m face-to-face with IT. Wow, it’s beautiful. I put my hands around it and grip it tightly with my sweaty palms. I move my hands up and down, his body twitching at my every move. I stick my tongue out and taste the tip, as if sampling an ice cream cone. It doesn’t taste bad! Days later, Julia graduated from middle school; however, before she started elementary school, she lost her virginity to 23-year-old Giovanni - in the middle of the street in Italy. But that story is for another post.

LOOK AWAY (2018): A Sexual Sinister Schoolgirl

Here's IMDb's (brief) synopsis for Look Away (2018):

Maria, an alienated high-school student, has her life turned upside down when she switches places with [Airam] her sinister mirror image.

Let’s begin by elaborating on the fact that 17-year-old Maria was masturbating in her luxurious bathroom when she discovered Airam.

Later in the film, which we saw on Netflix, Airam, in her schoolgirl uniform in her prep school’s classroom, wrote “Smell Me” on a piece of notebook paper, rubbed the note on her vagina, and passed the note to a schoolboy whom obediently followed her orders. 

Subsequently, Airam attempted to seduce Maria’s father. The first attempt happened after Airam showed up, unannounced, to her “father’s” plastic surgery office where she sat on her “father’s” desk, held his face and gave him a long sensuous kiss before she shared, “I missed you.”

Airam’s second attempt as a teen seductress happened when she returned to her “father’s” office and removed her schoolgirl uniform’s top. Despite her "father’s" protest, Airam removed her schoolgirl skirt, removed her panties, and asked her “father”, “Do you think I’m beautiful? 

The daughter-father seduction scenes are interesting - especially when one considers the fact that Airam informed Maria, “I know you. I know your secret desires. Your fears. Who you love. Who you hate. I understand you completely.”

Lastly, and talking about using the allure of [nude] nymphets for streams, 17-year-old Maria and Airam, who were played by India Eisley, a nymphet passing adult, appeared nude in Look Away several times. In addition to the nude daughter-father scene, Assaf Bernstein, the film’s writer and director, filmed Eisley nude while bathing and while having passionate teen sex.

Hulu's TINY BEAUTIFUL THINGS (2023): Teen Threesome and Schoolgirl Lipstick Lesbians

Here’s IMDb’s (lax) synopsis of Hulu’s Tiny Beautiful Things (2023):

[Tiny Beautiful Things] [f]ollows a woman who reluctantly becomes Dear Sugar; an anonymous and revered advice columnist, even when her own life is falling apart.

The synopsis is lax, because it left out the teen threesome subplot, which was, very interestingly, not only shown in the trailer, it was shown in the preview of episode 01 as well, but the teen threesome didn’t happen until episode 02. 

And it was implied in the trailer and in the introduction to episode 01 that Clare (Kathryn Hahn) and her husband Danny had a threesome with Rae - their 16-year-old daughter, but the actual (unedited) conversation didn’t take place until episode 03. 

Clare, "A threesome is a big leap. Maybe you were subconsciously worried about our little threesome."

Rae, "What?"

Clare, "Me and you and dad."

Rae, "Ew!"

And in the trailer and introduction to episode 01, Rae shared with her mother that Bethany, the other private schoolgirl in the threesome, had public anal sex on a greyhound bus.

Rae, “Bethany had anal sex on a greyhound going to Reno!”

Clare, “What?

Rae, “Yeah.”

Clare, “Why would she wanna take a bus to Reno?”

However, the (unedited) conversation didn’t take place until episode 04. (Talk about using the allure of nymphets to market a streaming series.)

In episode 02, after Clare came home from work early and discovered her 16-year-old daughter having a threesome, Clare asked Bethany, “Do your parents know? Should I just give ‘em a quick call?” Bethany replied, with her white bra showing under her schoolgirl uniform, that her parents, “[...] support sexual exploration.”

Now here’s the unedited dialogue about the teen threesome that took place in episode 03. 

Clare, “I know that you probably have had some twosomes before.”

Rae, “Mom!”

Clare, “I think a threesome is a big leap; so, I was wondering if maybe you were subconsciously worried about our little threesome.”

Rae, “What?”

Clare, “Me and you and dad.”

As you see, Clare assumed that Rae had had teen sex a number of times before the threesome; so, it’s surprising that Clare assumed that the threesome was organized by Bethany - whose parents were described as “rich and cosmopolitan”, but Bethany, whom goes by Montana, shared that the teen orgy was Rae’s idea.

Clare, “What made you think it was a good idea to orchestrate an orgy in me and my husband’s bedroom?”

Bethany\Montana, “That was Rae’s idea.”

And Bethany\Montana shared with Clare that Rae was “completely obsessed” and in love with Bethany\Montana. That’s correct. Tiny Beautiful Things has a teen lipstick lesbian slash schoolgirl subplot, which didn’t take place until episode 06, but surprisingly it wasn’t previewed in the trailer or in the introduction of episode 01. 

Interestingly, Clare said that she knew how to have a proper threesome and opined that her daughter’s teen threesome was “pathetic” and referred to it as “little pussy-ass shit”.  

Bethany, “Maybe you weren’t aware that she’s completely obsessed with me […] I can’t help that she’s in love with me.”

Clare, “And I know how to have a threesome. Not that pathetic little pussy-ass shit. […] thinking everyone wants to fuck you because you have great hair?”

In episode 04, Rae posted a video on social media of her seductively ingesting a large cucumber, which caused Clare to exclaim, “What the fuck!” In episode 04, the director took the opportunity to show Rea in her striped panties. And in episode 04, the conversation about Bethany having anal sex on greyhound bus took place, which I’ll share again to emphasize that Clare was unfazed by public teen anal sex.

Rae, “Bethany had anal sex on a greyhound going to Reno!”

Clare, “What?

Rae, “Yeah.”

Clare, “Why would she wanna take a bus to Reno?”

In episode 06, shortly after Bethany\Montana complained to Rae that she was fourth on her private school’s “Most Fuckable Girls’ List” (“Fucking fourth!”), Rae shared with Bethany\Montana that she was not a virgin, because she had sex with Stef Johnson and Sofia Serrano - respectively. And Rae related that she masturbates. (“I have a body, and I know what feels good, so”)

Consequently, upon learning that Rae’s parents were on a date night, Bethany\Montana suggested that they go back to Rae’s house, but Rae said suggestively that Bethany\Montana would have to remove her nail extensions before they had teen lipstick lesbian sex, which they proceeded to have until they were interrupted by the door bell. 

Tiny Beautiful Things (2023) received a 90% AVERAGE TOMATOMETER and a 85% AVERAGE AUDIENCE SCORE. Angie Han of the Hollywood Reporter opined:

True to its name, Tiny Beautiful Things is sensitive to the details. The series has a knack for zeroing in on moments too strange or specific to feel like anything but lived experience.

Interestingly, Tiny Beautiful Things is loosely based on Cheryl Strayed’s book, but there doesn’t appear to be a Rae or Bethany\Montana in the book. Grace Wehniainen wrote in her Bustle piece “Is Tiny Beautiful Things Based On A True Story? (April 7, 2023)

As is the case with most adaptations, not every detail is the same on page and screen. Names are changed, and Clare’s life isn’t exactly like Strayed’s. In the show, for example, she’s the mom to a teenager, while Strayed’s actual kids were still pretty young [...]

The last time we wrote about Kathryn Hahn was when she starred in Amazon’s I Love Dick (2016) where she played Chris whom, in the spirit of Nancy Friday's My Secret Garden: Women’s Sexual Fantasies and Tavi Gevinson's Rookie, (over) shared:
