A TL;DR of RESTLESS VIRGINS: LOVE, [Bleacher, Chapel, Library, Bathroom, & Locker Room Teen] SEX & SURVIVAL IN PREP SCHOOL

Here are some blurbs from Abigail Jones and Marissa Miley’s New York Times Bestseller Restless Virgins: Love, Sex, and Survival in Prep School:

“A shocking look at the sexual behaviors of privileged teens [...]” - Natalie Morales, The Today Show

“[A]s they [Jones and Miley] chip away at the pervasive climate of unrelenting promiscuity and out-of-control partying, it is clear that something is very wrong in the life of contemporary teens [...]” - O, The Oprah Magazine

“As I was reading, I had to keep flipping back to the beginning where it says Restless Virgins is a work of nonfiction [...] all the things in the book really happened.” - Gayle King, XM’s Oprah & Friends

That’s correct, per Jones and Miley, both Milton Academy alumnae, the shocking sexual behavior and unrelenting promiscuity of the privileged Milton prep school students really happened during the 2004-2005 school year. In a sort of synopsis of their book, Jones and Marissa wrote:

Milton Academy educates the best and the brightest [...] It’s an American story about teenagers surviving high school, confusing lust with love and sex with power, and searching for self-worth. Their experiences are the stories of privileged adolescence.

I normally don’t focus on detailed character descriptions - whether fictional or non-fictional; however, I think it’s worth sharing Jones and Miley’s descriptions of typical Milton students, whom were described as preppy trust-fund babies who drove BMW convertibles and whom were known to “complain about their cleaning people”:

“[...] the DSGs [Day Student Girls] sat with their thin, designer-clothing-clad legs lined up in a row [...] Whitney sat in her short skirt and short sleeved polo to match. Her hair razor straight, and she flipped it occasionally  with her hand [...] Whitney wore flawless makeup and knew she looked good. Her best friend, a beachy blonde, true trophy-wife material, looked even better [another] one a sensual beauty with dark hair and exotic features, another the quintessential WASP with a pearl necklace.”

“[...] the senior boys, who were dressed like budding yachtsmen in navy blazers, khaki pants, ties and loafers [...] Reed and the Hanley boys wore matching orange ties from Brooks Brothers.”

The non-fiction book focuses on the 2004-2005 senior class that was described as a: “[...] complex teenage creature all of its own, governed by a distinct social and academic hierarchy, sustained by friendships and crushes, lust and desire [...]”. Below is the tl;dr of my 14 page recap of the 328 page book.

Whitney: Out for Pleasure

Whitney had long brown hair and “[...] an unusual combination of beauty and grace, slim and delicate after a decade devoted to figure skating.” And “[...] as one of the popular senior girls herself, she knew it was her duty to look hot.”

On the night of her senior year First Dance, “she was out for pleasure”. Consequently, “Whitney and Tripp found themselves wandering across the main quad and toward a football field.” On the bleachers, “confident in her hand-job skills, Whitney gave Tripp a hand-job,” because she wasn’t sure if she could give him “head” due to Tripps “huge!” and “enormous!” penis. Despite Tripp's size: “She wanted him inside her, thick and encompassing, painful in that really, really good way” - on the prep school’s bleachers. 

Talk about a nubile nymphet. Jones and Miley shared some of Whitney’s other sexual exploits:

• During sophomore year, Whitney kissed seven guys at a Dave Matthews concert

• Whitney and a “girlfriend” hooked up in front of their boyfriends, which one can infer happened during Whitney’s freshman year 

• Whitney desired “fucking” before figure skating practice. Thus, she’d “[...] run to Nick’s [dorm] room, have sex [sans préservatif], spring back to her car, and barely make it to practice on time.”

• Whitney had her first orgasm, which Jones and Miley described as “delicious”, “[...] in Nick’s bed, his aunt's bedroom nearby, at some odd hour of the night [...]”

• Jones and Miley wrote of Whitney and Nick: “She’d given him head a million times.” Hyperbole?

• And Whitney had: “[...] a one-night stand with a hot guy she met on vacation in the Caribbean.”

Teen Sex in the Library, Snack Bar, Dorm, Bathroom, Chapel, etc. 

In addition to the football field, Whitney and a number of other schoolgirls attempted sex in the “library, the snack bar after hours, dorms [obviously], [and] random bathrooms.” Jones and Miley even wrote about “the orgasm a girl planned to have that afternoon on the third floor of the school library”. 

Jones and Miley wrote: “Girls wanted [sex] stories [...]” And the “potential increase in social status and attention. Some girls, like Whitney, enjoyed performing oral sex, honing their skills, loving the control.”

At the Swap It Dance, Reed: “[...] spotted a girl who gave him the look he was searching for.” Despite never having met before, she “led him to the [Apthorp] chapel” where “[h]e fingered her briefly” and “the girl gave Reed a blow job” near the chapel’s “massive pipe organ”.

At the end of the school year: “One  by one, the senior girls bestowed their cherished gifts upon the underclassmen [...] One senior willed a [cherished] vibrator. Jones and Miley shared that, after dining in Forbes, Reed, Brady and three other school boys proceeded to the Athletic and Convocation Center (ACC) where they: “[...] punched in the security code, and slipped inside.” Subsequently, Zoe, a 15-year-old sophomore, “slipped inside” the ACC too and joined the school boys in the hockey team’s locker room. What was Zoe doing in the boy’s locker room the night before exams? 

“She knew exactly what to do. She kneeled and began: one boy, then the next, oral sex performed on all five in turn.” 

And that was Zoe’s third teen oral sex orgy - consecutively! 

“Zoe had spent part of Saturday night giving head to three guys in a dorm room, and part of Sunday night doing the same to three guys in the same locker room. Monday night was not novel [...]” 

Annie: A Rubens Girl

Annie was described as having wavy blond hair “past her soldiers” and “[s]he was fleshy, a Rubens girl with a curvaceous body, breasts the size of baby melons since they’d first cropped up in fifth grade [...] Yet she’d always been reticent about her breasts, and still didn’t understand how they never garnered her attention from the guys at school.” 

Despite Annie’s experience, by senior year, she feared that the younger schoolgirls, “fifteen and sixteen-year-old vixens, with their developing breasts”, were having sex “with much more frequency”, because they were “[s]neaking in, sneaking out, stifled moans from a couch in the common room when dorm parents weren’t looking: it was all business as usual for some of the girls in her dorm.”

Caitlin Lane’s Parties and Teen Sex Games

Brady’s bunch of friends, “attractive, athletic, and preppy”, had an alliance with the younger Day Student Girls [DSG], Milton’s most popular girls, and Caitlin Lane whom was described as a “stunning young DSG”. Consequently, petites fêtes were held in Caitlin’s basement “[...] with beer, TV, hookups, [and] parents upstairs without a care.” “There in the basement, or in cars parked in empty parking lots, these girls offered themselves to Brady and his friends.” [Emphasis added] 

What type of hookups happened in Caitlin’s basement? 

• “Hookups involving one girl and several guys - or at least one girl, one guy, and an audience - were not unusual at Caitlin Lane’s parties.” 

• At Caitlin’s parties: “A topless [boarding school] girl was a standard sight.”

• In addition to teen threesomes in Caitlin’s basement there was “[...] the Dub Saw (when two boys penetrate a girl simultaneously, one in her vagina and one in her anus), or the Eiffel Tower (when a girl performs oral sex on one boy and simultaneously receives vaginal or [teen] anal sex from another boy, while the guys slap hands above her, forming the famous French point).

In the end, despite reading the tl;dr of the recap, it still may be clear to the reader that, in their New York Times Bestseller, Jones and Miller efficiently exemplified the fiction of, what they referred to as, the “myth of innocence”.

SLALOM (2020): "Hot [French] Adolescent Hormones" | Hormones Chaud [Français] Adolescent

Here’s part of the, somewhat misleading, Movie Info for Slalom (2022) from Rotten Tomatoes:

This riveting, Cannes-selected #MeToo drama from debut filmmaker Charlène Favier follows the relationship between a teenage ski prodigy and her predatory instructor [...] In a breakthrough role, Noée Abita plays 15-year-old Lyz, a high school student in the French Alps who has been accepted to an elite ski club known for producing some of the country's top professional athletes. Taking a chance on his new recruit, ex-champion turned coach Fred decides to mold Lyz into his shining star despite her lack of experience. Under his influence, she will have to endure more than the physical and emotional pressure of the training. Will Lyz's determination help her escape Fred's exploitative grip?

The last sentence is misleading, because, on the contrary, Lyz wanted to be even further in her coach’s grip. 

In the French film, shortly after we’re shown the first of five scenes with Lyz in her (sports) bra and panties (#theallureofnymphets), Lyz happened upon Fred, her ski coach, showering. Lyz stared at her nude coach for ≈ ten (10) seconds before she walked in the other direction. Consequently, Lyz asked Justine, another teen ski club member, “Ever slept with a guy?” Justine replied, “Yeah. Well, No. I blew Max in the restroom. I hated it.”

After Lyz won her first ski tournament, coach Fred took her on a joy ride before he kissed her, informed her, “Look what you do to me,” placed Lyz’s hand on his penis, put his hand on Lyz’s hand, and masturbated until orgasm. Lyz toyed with her coach’s semen until he gave her a rag from the van. 

Subsequently, at Lyz’s victory dinner, Lyz placed her hand on her coaches hand and asked, “You won’t let me down?”

Due to declining grades and Lyz’s mother having to work far away in Marseille, Lyz moved in with coach Fred and his wife -  Lilou.  Shortly thereafter, Lyz asked Lilou, “How long have you been with Fred?”

It’s common for age-gap content to be coupled with (mainstream) teen lipstick lesbian content; thus, it’s no surprise that a topless Justine attempted to kiss Lyz in the locker room.

Lyz, “What are you doing?”
Justine, “What would you say if it were [coach] Fred?”

Referring to a box of Plan-B, Lyz asked the pharmacist, “How much is it? Intriguingly, he replied, “It’s free for minors.” (#really)

Unsurprisingly, Lilou suspected that her husband and Lyz were having an age-gap affair.

Later, with tears in her eyes, Lilou confronted Lyz about the potential skier-ski coach affair. Unconvincingly, Lyz replied, “We’ve done nothing.“

Later, to Lyz’s dismay, coach Fred informed her, “I’m not your boyfriend. I’m your trainer. OK?” Lyz replied, “I want to stay with you forever. You said you wouldn’t let me down.” 

Consequently, to entice her coach to be more like her boyfriend, Lyz displayed her jeunes fountains. And following her coach's example, she took her coach's hand and attempted to place it on her spandex covered vagina. 

Unfortunately, for Lyz it didn’t work. She came to the realization that coach Fred was more concerned about her winning championships than their age-gap relationship. Consequently, after she won the skiing championship, Lyz left her coach, her age-gap affair and skiing career behind - presumably for good. 

Lastly, Slalom reminded me of You All Grow Up and Leave Me: A Memoir of Teenage Obsession, which is about a tennis player-tennis coach relationship, Slalom was shown at the Festival de Cannes, and the film received a 100% Tomatometer score from 62 film credits. For example, Harvey S. Karten of Big Apple Reviews opined of Lyz: "Hot adolescent hormones against the cold and beautiful French Alps."

From DAVE to CHUCKY: Streaming Teen Sex and Drugs in Pop Culture

I related in The Allure of Nymphets from Neil Postman's The Disappearance of Childhood that as recent as two hundred years ago, the concept of childhood did not exist and that it originated during the Renaissance when the printing press was invented. 

Postman purported that the disappearance of literacy, education, and shame that occurred during the Dark and Middle ages in Europe lead to the disappearance of childhood and with little literacy in the Middle Ages, what we consider today to be childhood ended at age seven, which was when most humans had a command over speech and was considered an adult. 

There were schools in the Middle Ages, but instead of teaching reading and writing, the students underwent “on-the-job-training” in classrooms with other students whose ages ranged from 10 to adults of all ages. Even at 10-years-old, the students lived away from their parents in what could be described as dorms.  Consequently, since there was no social distinction between “children” and adults, the “children” were exposed to everything. 

However, the invention of the printing press initiated the distinction between children and adults and the bridge from childhood to adulthood was only crossed by learning how to read. As a result, a new form of schooling was required. Children were no longer placed in mixed-aged classrooms to learn a trade. Children were placed in classes with other children close to their own ages and taught a curriculum that emphasized literacy. Sound familiar? 

Just like Postman, Richard Farson’s research in Birthrights lead him to the conclusion that "children" were invented in the 16th century in Europe during the Reformation and Renaissance periods, which was when children were no longer thought of as little people but as fragile potential adults who needed to be protected and educated. However, it still took another two-hundred years before “children” began to be separated by age in school. Farson wrote that prior to the seventeenth century, children were not considered innocent, were not segregated, and were not prevented from participating in adult conversations where salacious topics like sex were discussed. There were no children’s stories or books, and it was common for girls to get married at the age of thirteen. 

However, technology, specifically the Internet accessed via smartphones, has re-exposed "children" to everything (e.g., pornography). For example, in "Porn Before Puberty?", an ABC News feature, Winnifred Bonjean Alpart shared that when she was in the eighth grade in Manhattan: "[..] boys mostly, were watching porn during school [...] during independent reading, they would do that."

But what inspired us to post this post was the "Hypospadias" (s01e03) episode of Dave where  two nymphets encouraged a young Dave to "feel up" there fountains. Mallory Parker even informed Dave, "You can go under the bra," which was before Kayla Waters informed Dave, "Now we wanna feel you up." However, due to his hypospadias, Dave declined to let the nymphets feel his penis. 

And Dave reminded us of a number of other mainstream shows that blurred the line between "children" and adult content. On the "September" (s02e01) episode of Better Things, after being introduced to Arturo, 16-year-old Max's 32-year-old boyfriend, during a game of Truth or Dare, the viewers witnessed Duke, Max's pre-teen sister, dare a nymphet, "Put four Monopoly pieces in your vagina." She did!

On the "Winter Kills" (s10e6) episode of American Horror Story, Alma, a nymphet with a thirst for men's blood, was informed that a shirtless "Hustler" had been picked up for her from a donut shop in Santa Monica. Interestingly, the Hustler was of the impression that he was supposed to have sex with the pre-teen Alma.

In addition to Alma, who killed her father on American Horror Story, there have been a spat of recent shows and films that depict "children" committing murders and/or being murdered (e.g., Halloween Ends (2022), but although we've read a number or YA novels (e.g., Gossip Girl) that depict teens doing drugs, we were shocked to see Lexy Cross, a middle-school student on Chucky, snort cocaine and crushed Clonazepam pills. For example, on the "Halloween II" (s02e01) episode of Chucky, after Lexy made out with another teen, she snorted a bump. 

In the end, we know that art imitates life and vice versa; thus, it should come as no surprise that Connie got double-ds over summer when the American Society of Plastic Surgeons reported that in 2020 (i.e., during COVID!) over three thousand nymphets, between the ages of 13 and 19, had breast augmentations (i.e., teen boob jobs). And previously, we wrote about Laura Sessions Stepp's Washington Post post "Parents Are Alarmed by an Unsettling New Fad in Middle Schools: Oral Sex" (July 8, 1999) and the New York Post post about the teen masturbation and porn literacy classes being taught at some Manhattan prep schools.

Netflix's SENIOR YEAR (2022): Teen Handies & Twerking Cheerleaders

 

Here's the IMDb's synopsis for Netflix's Senior Year (2022): "A cheerleading stunt gone wrong landed her [Stephanie Conway (Rebel Wilson)] in a 20-year coma. Now she's 37, newly awake and ready to live out her high school dream: becoming prom queen."

The young Stephanie Conway, a high school senior, was played by Angourie Rice who shared, minutes into the movie, that Deanna Russo's "perfect husband" had a "famously girthy dong". (Deanna was Stephanie's idol due to Deanna being a Harding High cheer captain and prom queen in 1995.)

Moments later, Stephanie informed her friend that the she kept a sock in her Volkswagen that she used to give Blaine, her boyfriend, teen "handies". Stephanie, "[...] I need that sock back. It's Blaine's. We use it for handies."

Later, Stephanie related that during her prom night after party, she planned to lose her, "[...] bottom half virginity to Blaine" in the "VIP, VIP section" that she reserved "For [teen] boning".

Subsequently, Stephanie (Rebel Wilson) instructed two Harding High students on how to become popular - one of which was to have anal sex: 

"There's only, like, three ways to become popular: to be a cheerleader, to work at Abercrombie or to let guys go in the back door." 

Unsurprisingly, one of the high school students replied, "Oh my G_d, I must be really popular then."

And not one to shy away from offering (unsolicited) advice, Stephanie (Rebel Wilson) informed the same students about how to get over their fear of someone's dad, which was to perform oral sex on the dad(dy). Unsurprisingly, one of the high school students replied, "Good to know."

Janet (Avantika)

Interestingly, after Janet, who was played by 16-year-old Disney star Avantika, pleaded with Stephanie, "Don't blow my dad," the director, taking advantage of the allure of a nymphet, had Janet twerk in her cheerleading uniform in front of the students, teachers and staff of Harding High. Later, a dancing Janet asked a friend to film her before the nymphet screamed, "Suck my vulva!" into the iPhone's camera.

"Sex Appeal" (2022): "GET GOOD AT [TEEN] SEX"

Here's the relevant Movie Info via Rotten Tomatoes for Hulu's teen comedy Sex Appeal (2022):

Avery Hansen-White doesn't do things she isn't excellent at. So when her long-distance boyfriend [Casper] hints at wanting to take their relationship to the next level [i.e., have teen sex], she sets out to master her sexuality, employing her oldest friend, Larson, as a [sex] test subject. 

In other words, Avery wanted to lose her virginity to Casper, but not before "practicing" with Larson. Consequently, just like Brandy in the teen sex comedy The To Do List (2013), Avery made a "GET GOOD AT SEX" list that included:

Handjobs
Blowjobs
Fingering
Butt Stuff

Avery even informed her high school sex ed teacher, "I know it's not in the manual, but I could use a little tutorial on the mechanics of the clitoris." But her teacher replied, "I cannot tell you how to pleasure yourself." 

However, Avery, who interestingly referred to herself as a "young adult", got advice from Danica (Paris Jackson), "a [teen] mecca of sexual knowledge", whom advised Avery to measure, using a glass test tube, the depth of her vagina ("4.3 inches"), to use coconut oil as a lubricant while masturbating, and Danica encouraged Avery, à la TikTok, to masturabate via Jacuzzi jets.

RED ROCKET (2021): The Making of a Texas Teen Porn Star

Richard Brody summarized Red Rocket well in his New Yorker review:

[...] [Simon] Rex’s character, Mikey Davies (whose porn name is Mikey Saber), travels by bus from Los Angeles to Texas City, where he drops in on his estranged wife and former onscreen partner, Lexi (Bree Elrod) [...] Mikey looks for work locally, but he has a seventeen-year gap on his résumé [...] Instead, Mikey reconnects with the head of the local marijuana trade [...] At a nearby doughnut shop, he meets a counter clerk and high-school student named Raylee (Suzanna Son), who calls herself Strawberry. In the film, shortly after Strawberry informed Mikey, "I'll be 18 in three weeks," and Mikey confirmed, "Legal as an eagle," Strawberry grabbed Mikey's penis behind Donut Hole's counter. 

Subsequently, Mikey had Strawberry cease having teen sex with Nash whom became "clingy ass fuck" after Strawberry "[...] blew him at junior prom." In her Nylon piece, ‘RED ROCKET’ STAR SUZANNA SON IS THE NEXT BIG THING (Dec 8, 2021), Sophia June asked Suzanna Son (Strawberry):

Q: Your character is so naive, but so confident and really bold and smart. Do you think she’s aware that Mikey is using her and is she using him?

Mare of Mare of Easttown

As hard as it is for (most) middle-aged women and teens boys to (openly) admit, nymphets can seduce men. And Son's assessment of Strawberry reminds me of novelist Robertson Davies' assessment of Lolita as: “[...] not [about] the corruption of an innocent child by a cunning adult, but [about] the exploitation of a weak adult by a corrupt child”. Interestingly, of Mikey Saber, Brianna Zigler shared in her Gawker piece, "In ‘Red Rocket’, Mikey Saber Is a Very Bad Man: How refreshing" (Dec 10, 2021), that she found Mikey, refreshing, exhilarating and a hoot to root for:

It was both refreshing and exhilarating to watch an anti-hero go that low [...] it’s fun to root for a fictional character who is an endearing piece of shit, and boring to watch people become perfect moral agents.

Max's ‘The Sex Lives of College Girls’ (2021): 6 Teen Handjobs & Student-Coach Sex!

Hannah Chambers' Cosmopolitan piece "‘The Sex Lives of College Girls’ Is the Most Realistic College TV Show…Maybe Ever" described the show well:

The Mindy Kaling–produced HBO Max series follows [the sex lives of] four roommates at Essex College, a prestigious New England school: 

Whitney, a soccer star whose mother is a powerful U.S. senator; 

Kimberly (Pauline Chalamet) [...], a naive high school valedictorian with a work-study scholarship; 

Bela (Amrit Kaur), a self-proclaimed “sex-positive” aspiring comic with conservative Indian parents; and 

Leighton (Reneé Rapp), an entitled Essex College legacy from New York City who’s hiding her queerness.

In addition, Chambers wrote: "For once, it’d be nice to hear stories about what really goes down at college…and that’s exactly what The Sex Lives of College Girls has accomplished." Thus, let's take a look at what, per Chambers, really does down at college. 

Let us begin with 18-year-old Bela whom professed in the premiere that she desired to have sex with (48-year-old) television host Seth Meyers. 

After Bela’s parents dropped her off at Essex, she informed them, “I’m 18-years-old. I’m in the middle of my re-invention.” Subsequently, to seduce the male staff of Catullan, the prestigious Essex College publication, into letting her be a freshman writer, Bela gave six of the Catullan college boys handjobs. Later, she boasted to her roommates, "I gave six handjobs!" And in episode 3, Bela shared, "[...] I masturbate to [SNL's 37-year-old] Kyle Mooney." 

Whitney professed to a roommate, "I like men - not boys." Consequently, in addition to being an Essex soccer star, Whitney had an affair with Coach Dalton - her married assistant soccer coach. Whitney informed Coach Dalton, "I'm finding it really difficult to concentrate during practice, because I want to fuck you so bad." Ergo, Whitney and her coach had sex in her coach's office and in his car. 

Unsurprisingly, Whitney wasn't the only Essex coed attracted to Coach Dalton. Here are some quotes from her teammates directed at Coach Dalton:

Interestingly, after the age-gap affair was leaked and Coach Dalton was fired, Whitney was consoled, shielded, and victimized.

However, Whitney denied that she was a victim. For example, after she was told, "It's not your fault." Whitney replied, "No, it really is, unless someone else was sleeping with him, which I guess is possible." And Whitney confessed to her mother that she was not molested by Coach Dalton and that she was an [18-year-old] adult. 

Lastly, after Whitney shared with Leighton, “I may have had an affair with my married assistant coach,” Whitney replied, “While I’m sure this is considered some juicy stuff where you’re from, I went to a New York prep school. I've been making out with bartenders since I was, like, 14." That’s correct. Whitney belittled Whitney’s age-gap affair with her college coach, because Whitney had been making out with men since middle school.

In the New York Times piece, “‘The Sex Lives of College Girls’ Pursues an Awkward Education" (Nov. 15, 2021), Alexis Soloski asked: "Why is our culture so obsessed with the sex lives of young women?" Pauline Chalamet responded: "There’s a fetishization — a Lolita fetish [...]"
