Nancy Spungen: Over the Years |
Here are the first two sentences from Nancy Spungen's Wikipedia page:
Nancy Laura Spungen (/ˈspʌŋɡən/;[1] February 27, 1958 – October 12, 1978) was the American girlfriend of Sid Vicious and a figure of the 1970s punk rock scene. Spungen's life and death [at the age of 20] have been the subject of controversy among music historians and fans of the Sex Pistols.
On The C-Word podcast (July 8, 2021), Lena Dunham and Alissa Bennet elaborated on Spungen's life. Dunham shared that 16-year-old Spungen bragged that she had sex with the entire rock group Bad Company but that she only gave hand jobs (simultaneously) to two members of the rock band Aerosmith. In addition, Spungen reportedly had sex with Keith Richards, members of The Who, J. Geils and The Allman Brothers.
Lena: "She bragged to her sister that she had sex with the band, Bad Company, all of them."
Lena: "Aerosmith. She once said she drove around in a limousine giving double fisted handjobs to two of them at once. That sounds fun! Keith Richards. The Who. J. Geils and The Allman Brothers."
Alissa went on to say that it wasn't uncommon for a nymphet to have a poster of a rock star taped in her elementary school locker whom she had been intimate with, but Lena couldn't understand why these men (e.g., David Bowie and Mick Jagger) hadn't been canceled by the MeToo movement.
Alissa: "This is, like, the golden age of the groupie. This was a moment when, like, you'd be 14-years-old and literally, like, have sexual intercouse with a rock star whose poster was hanging in your locker."Lena: "What's interesting is, like, the MeToo movement has sort of, like, definitely not come for those guys. Like, we've kinda been like, "Fuck all those people! Except for the guys who had sex with 14-year-olds in the 70s, because that was kinda okay." Like, all of our favorite musicians fucked teenagers in the 70s. That is just a fact. Like, they're all these women, who are like, "When I was 13, I lost my virginity to David Bowie. He was so tender."
David Bowie and Lori Maddox |
Alissa: "Lori Maddux. Like, that Lori Maddux story with David Bowie and Angela Bowie when she was 13-years-old. It's like all. It's all over."
Lastly, Alissa said that Spungen would let entire bands sleep at her house when her parents were away:
Alissa: "So in 1975, Nancy Spungen is loitering at her parent's house. She's bringing bands home. Like her parents will come home [...]"
