Famous Ephebophile: Woody Allen

Manhattan (1979)

Woody Allen has written and/or directed in at least five films that contained age-discrepant relationships. Those films are: You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger (2010), Whatever Works (2009), Husbands and Wives (1992), Deconstructing Harry (1997) and Manhattan (1979) (Fig. 1), which is about 42-year-old Isaac (Woody Allen), a comedy writer and aspiring novelist, who ends his affair with a 17-year-old high school student (Mariel Hemingway) to be with an older woman (Diane Keaton) only to regret it later.

And Woody is a great example of art imitating life. Woody's wife, Mia Farrow, found three nude pictures of her adopted daughter, Soon Yi Previn, on Woody’s mantle that were taken some time before Soon Yi’s 19th birthday and before Woody divorced Mia and married Soon Yi.
